“Oh, what a night, late October, back in sweet 16, I was up there on the video screen, I remember, what a night! Oh, what a night, very soon the world will know my name, I am always gonna stay the same. This is Edgey, what a night! Oh, what a night, why did it take so long for them to see the light? Seemed so wrong, but now it seems so right, what a lady, what a night…!”
On Friday 21st October 2016, I held my first charity evening at Chesterfield Football Club’s Proact Stadium. I did this to raise funds for Fountaindale School (where I attended 1981-1992) and the Chesterfield Football Club Community Trust.
It was a very special night for me. I marked the occasion with the launch of my first calendar and my first promotional video. The video revealed how I made the calendar, gave an insight into my life and gave people a bit more information about the charities that I am raising funds for.
The “Edgey Does It Her Way 2017” calendar is now on sale and will be purchasable from my new website by the weekend. It is £8 where people are happy to collect the calendar but it’s £11.00 if posted out – this price includes postage and packaging. All proceeds raised from my charity night and calendar are going to Fountaindale School and the Chesterfield Football Club Community Trust.
The entertainment at my special night was provided by the fantastic Anthony Parsons. The lovely Rachel Lauren Egley also sang a few songs. The comperes for the night were Nick Johnson and Phil Tooley, who, just like always, did a great job between them!
Well, I’ve just turned 42 years young. I’ve had a brilliant life so far…but I have a lot more goals and ambitions that I want to achieve and I’m sure the best is yet to come.
As well as having an ambition of being a model when I was a kid, another ambition I had was that I wanted to write song. I have written the lyrics to a song, my friends Jess and Lyn have written the music to it.
Jess has recorded it and Lyn has produced it. I’ve only met Jess and Lyn a few times, but we are already a great team. Jess has been on Britain’s Got Talent and BBC1 The Voice!
The biggest surprise and best moment of the night was when Jess sang the song in public for the first time! The song is called “Zoe’s Song” and is about my life. It will be available to download very soon. I have decided that all the proceeds raised from “Zoe’s Song” will go to The Child Foundation charity. I will be helping to decide which families and children get help with the money that the song raises.
My “Edgey Projects” will continue to raise money for charity, next year.
Many thanks to:
All my sponsors, everyone that’s donated raffle prizes and auction items, everyone who’s donated on Just Giving.
And a massive thanks to:
Anthony Parsons, Nick Johnson, Nikki Clifford of NJUK, Howard Borrell, Phil Tooley, Pete Whiteley, Rachel Lauren Egley, Jessica Rose Hobson. Lyn Sheppard and everyone, that has helped with my project.
Two very special friends of mine are Denise James and David Lilley.
I can never thank them enough for what they have done for me. They are fantastic, better than any doctors. They have made the attitude I had when I was 16/17-year-old come back! I am full of confidence, brimming with determination and full of self belief and everything positive….I believe and know I can and I will do anything and everything I want again! If anyone tries to tell me that I can’t do it, like back in the old days, that’s when my rebelliousness kicks in, because they will just have to watch me prove it!
It was brilliant to see so many people at my dinner. I hope they enjoyed the night as much as I did!
On a personal note, it was great to see the old Fountaindale gang, my old mates and I doing it Edgey’s way again. The years have flown past but we are still brilliant together!
I want to thank everyone for making the night fantastic and very special for many reasons. It topped my Paralympic Silver Medal. It was the best night of my life so far.
I feel that people are now starting to see what I can really do and I am sure the future will be very exciting.
